Why You Should Be Eating 30 Plants Per Week

Did you know that increasing the plant diversity in your diet can support the diversity of the bacteria in your gut microbiome?

The gut (gastro intestinal tract) is the body's first line of defence against disease-causing pathogens. It is where we digest and absorb nutrients; it houses our gut microbes (known as gut bacteria), and regulates immune homeostasis.

Eating a wide variety of plants regularly in your diet plays a role in enhancing the diversity of your gut microbiome - the number and types of bacteria living there. Research has shown that people who eat over 30 plants a week have greater gut microbiome diversity than those who only eat 10 a week.
